Breaking News - Giuseppe Filianoti replaces Rolando Villazón in Lucia di Lammermoor on 3. Feb 2009

Yesterday night, a couple of hours before the start of the performance, the Met announced that Giuseppe Filianoti was replacing Rolando Villazón in Lucia di Lammemoor.

"Giuseppe Filianoti will sing Edgardo in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor tonight, replacing Rolando Villazón who is ill.

Mr. Villazón is still scheduled to sing Edgardo on February 7 matinee.

The performance was live broadcast on Sirius and XM Metropolitan Opera Radio. Giuseppe Filianoti is scheduled to sing Edgardo, with Anna Netrebko in the title role, in four performances of Lucia di Lammermoor at the Wiener Staatsoper in March 2009.
