Breaking News: Anna Netrebko steps in for Natalie Dessay in two performances of Manon at la Scala

Due to health reasons, Natalie Dessay has withdrawn from the performances of Massenet's Manon. The role of Manon Lescaut will be sung by Anna Netrebko on 19 and 22 June and by Ermonela Jaho on 25, 29 June and 2, 5, 7 July.

Anna Netrebko will open the Met's 2012-2013 Season

The Met has already officially announced the 2012-2013 season and an on-line brochure is available.

Anna Netrebko will open the Met's 2012-2013 season on 24. Sep 2012 as Adina in a new Bartlett Sher's production of Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore with Matthew Polenzani as Nemorino, Mariusz Kwiecien as Belcore and Ambrogio Maestri as Dulcamara (Sep/Oct). It has not been announced yet who will sing the role of Dulcamara on the second part of the run in Jan/Feb. The performances will be conducted by Maurizio Benini.

Anna Netrebko at the Met's free Summer HD Festival

The Metropolitan Opera's free Summer HD Festival opens with a screening of Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" starring Anna Netrebko on Saturday, August 27 at Lincoln Center Plaza.

Anna Netrebko revives her sensational turn in this sophisticated bel canto comedy, opposite Matthew Polenzani, Mariusz Kwiecien, and John Del Carlo in the title role. Music Director James Levine conducts Otto Schenk’s production.

This performance was originally transmitted live on November 13, 2010.

Due to the forecasted weather this weekend, the Live in HD Festival screenings for Saturday and Sunday are cancelled.

Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Grosses Festspielhaus, Salzburg 8.-9. Aug 2011

On 8. Aug 2011 it was the first of the two concerts given by the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia at the Salzburger Festspiele. Antonio Pappano was conducting and Anna Netrebko, Marianna Pizzolato, Matthew Polenzani and Ildebrando D'Arcangelo sang the Rossini's "Stabat Mater".

The concert, which was recorded by Unitel Classica in cooperation with ZDF/Arte, was a huge success.

After the concert it was a signing session by Anna Netrebko, Antonio Pappano, Marianna Pizzolato and Ildebrando D'Arcangelo.

The second performance of the run was on 9. Aug 2011. Everyone, from the orchestra and chorus to the conductor and four singers, was in top form. The sound was superb. At the end of the performance everyone in the audience was standing up applauding for several minutes.

This second performance was broadcast on a big screen at the Kapitelplatz in Salzburg.

This time it was not a signing session after the performance, but Ildebrando D'Arcangelo's fans were able to attend a signing session at a shop at 12:00. If you missed this signature session, you still have a last chance on 10. Aug 2011 at 12:00 at a different shop

It was great fun and she seems to enjoy this production. Her singing and acting were superb. After the show there was a big dinner for sponsors, but she came out to her fans before she returned to the dinner. She took some time for giving autographs, posing for photos and chatting with the crowd
