Anna Netrebko will sing the role of Adina in a Laurent Pelly's  performance of Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore" at the Mariinsky Theater, St. Petersburg on Monday 24. January 2011. The conductor will be Luciano di Martino.

The Mariinsky Theater website announced on 18. Dec 2010 two performances of Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore" on Monday 24. and Tuesday 25. January 2011. Details of the casts were not yet provided at that time. Nevertheless, as it is usual there, tickets for the premiere on Monday 24. January 2011 are already available. The price of the tickets, two or three times the usual ones, indicated that, most likely, Anna Netrebko will sing the role of "Adina" on this performance. Tickets for the second performance on Tuesday 25. January 2011 were not yet available at the Mariinsky Theater website.

On 20. Dec 2010, the balletandopera website announced that Anna Netebko would sing in both performances and they had tickets available for both dates. They announced also that it will be a concert performance and not a new staged poduction as it had been announced some time ago by Anna Netrebko.

The day after, 21. Dec 2010, the second peformance has dissapeared from the balletandopera website. It is still announced on the Mariinsky Theater website, but tickets are still unavailable.

On 22. Dec 2010, the Mariinsky Theater website confirmed that Anna Netrebko will sing on 24. Jan 2011 but no additional information is povided yet for the second performance and tickets remain unavailable.

The russian version of the Mariinsky website announces that it will not be a concert performance but a staged one directed by Laurent Pelly.

Anna Netrebko made her opera debut as Susanna in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" at the Mariinsky Theater, St. Petersburg on 5. April 1994. It was a personal decission of Valery Gergiev to give her such an extraordinary first opportunity, singing such an important role, when she was just 22 years old.

December 11 in St. Petersburg was the "Night Music" devoted to the 170 anniversary of Piotr I. Tchaikovsky.

More than 100 musical events and theater performances were organized at different venues, including both traditional ones, such as opera houses, concert halls or theaters, and non-traditional ones, such as lobbies of subway stations, lobbies of museums, radio and television studios or night clubs.

The main event of the "Night Music" was the "Opera Gala Concert" held at the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory featuring Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott, making their first joint concert in Russia, with Claudio Vandelli conducting the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra "New Russia".

The day before, Anna Netrebko, Erwin Schrott and Claudio Vandelli gave a press conference at the hall of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, the place where Anna had followed her musical studies. Anna had left the Conservatoy before having finished her studies and, therefore, she never got the Diploma. Before the concert Anna Netrebko received the Diploma from the St. Petersburg Conservatory delivered by the chairman of the Culture Committee, Anton Gubankov, and the rector of the Conservatory, Sergei Stadler.

Anna Netrebko, Erwin Schrott and Claudio Vandelli arrived to St. Petersburg after having been giving two joint concerts in Ukraine, in Odessa on 1. Dec and Kiev on 5. Dec 2010, and one joint concert in Latvia, in Riga on 8. Dec 2010. Following this concert in St. Petersburg, they will travel to Moscow, where they will end this tour, to give a private concert at the Kremlin.

Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott will give a concert tour to Ukraine, Latvia and Russia

Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott will be performing together in a concert tour to Ukraine (Odessa and Kiev), Latvia (Riga) and Russia (St. Petersburg and Moscow) in December 2010. All concerts will be conducted by Claudio Vandelli.

This will be the first time Anna Netrebko sings in Ukraine. In Latvia she has performed at least once in Riga, where she sang the role of the Queen of the Night of Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" at the Riga Independent Opera Avangarda Akadeemija, Riga in June 1994, and several times in Sigulda at the summer Festival organized in this city located at 53 km of the capital city Riga. At the 7th Opera Music Festival of Sigulda, Anna Netrebko sang the role of Rosina in Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" at the Sigulda's Castle Ruins on 31. July 1999 and she performed in a Gala Concert at the Sigulda's Castle Ruins on 1. August 1999. At the 8th Opera Music Festival of Sigulda, she sang the role of Susanna in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" on 2. August 2000, the title role of Bizet's "Carmen" on 5. August 2000 and performed in a Gala Concert on 6. August 2000. Anna Netrebko came back to the 9th Opera Music Festival of Sigulda to sing the role of Adina in Donizetti's "L'Elisir d'Amore" on 22. July 2001.

Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater, Odessa 1. December 2010
The first concert of the tour will be held at the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater in Odessa on 1. December 2010. Claudio Vandelli will conduct the Odessa Opera Orchestra.

The programme will include arias from Glinka, Dvorak, Mozart, Gounod and Puccini.

Anna Netrebko will sing "Ludmila´s Cavatina" from the 1. Act of Glinka's "Russland and Ludmila", Marguerite's Vals from Gounod's "Faust", "Song to the Moon" from Dvorak's "Russalka" and Lauretta's aria from Puccini's "Gianni Schicci". Erwin Schrott will sing arias from Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and Gounod's "Faust", among others. Anna and Erwin will sing duets from Donizetti's "L'Elisir d'Amore", Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" and Lehár's operetta "The Merry Widow".

Palace Ukraine, Kiev 5. December 2010
The second concert of the tour will be given at the Palace Ukraine, Kiev on 5. December 2010. Claudio Vandelli will conduct the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.










Latvian National Opera, Riga 8. December 2010
Following those two concerts in Ukraine, Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott will give a concert at the Latvian National Opera, in Riga, Latvia on 8. December 2010. Claudio Vandelli will conduct the Latvian National Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

The programme will include arias and duets from Glinka, Dvorak, Mozart, Gounod, Donizetti, Puccini and Gershwin.

Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, St. Petersburg 11. December 2010

Following the concert in Riga, Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott will move to Russia to give a first concert in St. Petersburg at the Theater of Opera and Ballet of St. Petersburg Conservatory (Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory) on 11. December 2010. This will be their first joint concert in Russia. Claudio Vandelli will conduct the State Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg.

Kremlin, Moscow 13. December 2010

The last concert of the tour given by Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott will take place at the Kremlin in Moscow on 13. December 2010.  Claudio Vandelli will conduct the State Symphony Orchestra "Novaya Rossiya". This is a private concert given at the Kremlin for Russian President Medvedev and 150 of his guests.

March 2010.

"Oh music, I thank you!" is the title of the concert which will take place at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg on 25. March 2010, to mark Elena Matusovskaya’s anniversary.

The concert features Anna Netrebko and Elena Matusovskaya at the piano. Other soloists are Irina Mataeva, Zlata Bulycheva, Nina Romanova (Mikhailovsky Theatre), Yevgeny Akimov, Yuri Marusin, Yuri Laptev, Vladislav Sulimsky and Yevgeny Ulanov.

Tickets for the concert are already on sale.

This concert does not replace the recital in St. Petersburg on 26. March 2010, which was initially announced on the Deutsche Grammophon website.

New Recitals of Anna Netrebko in Moscow and St. Petersburg

Deutsche Grammophon website announces the schedule of two new recitals of Anna Netrebko with Elena Bashkirova at the piano. The first one will take place in Moscow on 23. March 2010 and the second one in St. Petersburg on 26. March 2010. Following these two recitals in Russia, Anna will give a recital in Berlin with Daniel Barenboim at the piano during the Festtage 2010 on 29. March 2010.

The programme of those recitals, with songs by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Piotr Tchaikovsky, will be the same one performed last summer in Mannheim on 12. August 2009 and Salzburg during the Salzburger Festspiele on 19. August 2009. The last one in Salzburg was recorded and a CD "In the Still of Night" will be released by Deutsche Grammophon on 26. March 2010.

The cast includes Sergei Semishkur as Rodolfo, Karina Chepurnova as Musetta and Vasily Gerello as Marcello. Mikhail Agrest will conduct the Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater. The production is by Ian Judge.

The opening of the 227th season of the Mariinsky Theater, St. Petersburg, has been done on 28. September 2009 with Tchaikovsky's last opera "Iolanta", starring the opera diva Anna Netrebko in the title role and Valery Gergiev conducting the Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater.

The rest of the cast was coming also from the Mariinsky Theater with Sergei Skorokhodov as Vaudémont, Sergei Aleksashkin as René, Alexei Markov as Robert and Edem Umerov as Ebn-Hakia, Andrei Zorin as Alméric, Fyodor Kuznetsov as Bertrand, Natalia Evstafieva as Martha, the young Ukranian soprano Eleonora Vindau as Brigitte and the young Russian mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Sergeeva as Laura. Then, finally, the cast has been almost the same one of the premiere in Baden-Baden on 18. July 2009, with the only difference being Sergei Skorokhodov, instead of Piotr Beczala, as Vaudémont. The stage director was Mariusz Treliński and it was a co-production of the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.

After the performance, Anna Netrebko was entitled as Honorary Doctor of the Institude for Children’s Traumathology. Anna received a golden scalpel and a medal for the financial support made under the title/motto: “For saving children’s life”.

The premiere of this production, in a double program "Aleko" and "Iolanta", was performed at the Mariinsky Theater on 17. and 18. April 2009. A few months later, then with Anna Netrebko making her role debut as Iolanta, Piotr Beczala as Vaudémont and Valery Gergiev conducting the Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater, was performed at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden on 18., 21., 24. and 27. July 2009.

From the archives, here we have two short videoclips from the Russian TV showing some images of Anna Netrebko in Moscow in 1998.

The first videoclip shows Anna Netrebko, Vasily Gerello and Irina Dzhioeva in a Gala Concert held at the Kremlin, Moscow on 27. March 1998.

The second videoclip shows Anna Netrebko as Micaela in a Gala Concert held at the Bolshoi Theater, Moscow on 7. Apr 1998. Valery Gergiev was conducting the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater of St. Petersburg.

An Anna Netrebko Gala with Valery Gergiev conducting the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater was held at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg on 5. July 2009. The Anna Netrebko Gala became one of the brightest events of the XVII Festival "Stars of the White Nights".

The Anna Netrebko Gala, which was scheduled at 22:00, started almost half an hour later. Valery Gergiev had been conducting "Die Walküre" at the Mariinsky Theater on the same day, starting at 15:00 and ending at 21:10. Obviously the Maestro was pretty much exhausted and he needed to have some relax, before starting to conduct the Gala.

After the overture of Glinka's opera "Ruslan and Lyudmila", Valery Gergiev invited Anna Netrebko on stage. The Russian diva sang two arias and three duets. The arias were from Glinka's "Ruslan and Lyudmila" and, for the first time ever, from Puccini's "Madama Butterfly". The three duets were, from Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta", from Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" and from Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci". For the duets, Anna Netrebko was joined on the stage by two young Mariinsky soloists, the tenor Sergei Skorokhodov and the baritone Vladislav Sulimsky.

Anna Netrebko sang the Cio-Cio-San monologue from Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" for the first time ever. "I sang Butterfly for first time today. I decided to try and I liked it" said Netrebko.

"In our theater, Anna Netrebko has grown from debutante to world star. And I think that her example - a good incentive for young singers to win the Mariinsky creative heights - open a new opportunity" said Valery Gergiev.
